The News panel displays news articles from public feeds and outlets relevant to your search domain, with a focus on innovation and technology.
This feature enables you to track real-time updates, signals, and emerging trends, offering valuable insights into market dynamics and innovation-driven developments across various fields.
News are integrated daily. For both smart and expert searches, we cover a period of up to 10 years. Starting with the most recent documents, we continue going back quarter by quarter until we gather enough relevant results, offering up to 500 results for your search.
We capture thousands of English-language curated sources from around the world, ensuring broad and comprehensive coverage across diverse topics. While we strive to include as many relevant sources as possible, there may be specific sources you’d like us to integrate. If so, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re always open to suggestions to further enhance our coverage.

Panel fields and filters
The news search results are enriched with various fields that provide detailed information to help you analyze and interpret the content effectively.
- Result. Displays the title and a brief text snippet from the article.
- Relevance. This indicator measures how closely the article is related to your query.
- Source. Name of the feed or news outlet.
- Published. Publication date.
- Mentions. Key players in innovation/technology mentioned in the article.
- Tags. MAPEGY-assigned categories for news filtering.
- Sector. Hand-tailored by MAPEGY:
- Mobility. Organizations and activities related to products and services which aim to optimize the mobility of goods and people via different modes of transport (notably car/road, train/rail, airplane/air, and ship/water).
- Electronics & Consumer Goods. Organizations and activities related to the production and marketing of electronic and digital devices such as phones, wearables, or television sets, as well as consumer products like domestic appliances, furniture, or clothing.
- Industrials. Organizations and activities related to the manufacturing and distribution of capital goods such as machinery and equipment for aerospace and defense, building products, electrical equipment, and tools for handling, measurement and testing.
- IT & Telecommunications. Organizations and activities related to technology, products and services for storing, processing, retrieving and sending information, as well as research & development in fields related to data science, computer science and mathematics.
- Life & Food Sciences. Organizations and activities related to the research, development, production and marketing of products and services in the fields of health, agriculture, medicine, and the pharmaceutical and food science industries.
- Energy & Infrastructure. Activities related to urban development, civil and environmental engineering, and organizations that promote the exploration, production, refining, marketing, storage and transportation of electric power, gas, water, and other public commodities and services.
- Materials & Chemicals. Organizations and activities related to the manufacturing of chemicals, construction materials, glass, paper, textiles, and packaging products, as well as as the mining or refining of metals, minerals and alloys, including steel.
- Business & Finance. Organizations and activities related to economic services such as banking, finance, insurance, human resources, marketing, management, and consulting.
- Culture & Society. Includes activities related to the arts, literature, and music, as well as public services like education, and organizations in the entertainment, media, or hospitality industry.
- Genres. MAPEGY’s algorithms assign each item to an additional type of category that we call Genre:
- SIGNAL: News on forward-looking developments and R&D directions.
- M&A: News on business relations, partnerships, and mergers and acquisitions focus on strategic alliances between companies, joint ventures, and company acquisitions.
- STARTUP: News on new tech companies, venture capital funding, accelerators and incubators.
- LEGAL: News reports on new legislation, regulatory changes, government policies, lawsuits, and intellectual property issues.
- FUNDING: News to identify relevant subsidies, awards, and public or private investments.
- REPORT: In-depth analysis of a specific industry or market landscape, including assessments of competitive dynamics, trend forecasts, and opportunities.
- PRODUCT: News on product launches, and breakthrough solutions.

Search
Use the search bar at the top of the panel to explore the 500 available results.
Filter by field
The filter button, located at the top left of the table, allows you to narrow down your results based on the predefined fields above.
Simply click on Filters, choose the field you want to filter by, and set your criteria.
Please note that some filters operate on the server side, loading a new set of 500 results. In the News panel, these include: Source, Genre, and Tag.
The remaining filters will only apply to the 500 results displayed.
Edit fields
You can customize which fields are visible, tailoring the display to your needs.
Just click on the Fields option on the left side of the screen, and select your preferred fields.
Note: Not all selected fields may be visible in the list view. If this occurs, you’ll see an exclamation mark next to the field settings, indicating adjustments may be needed for optimal display.
Clicking on an item will display full details.
Trend charts
In addition to the table, the News panel includes a trend chart, allowing you to track how news publication activity has evolved over time.
The News trend chart displays publication activity for the last 10 years. You can double click on the bars to
SCOUT provides you with absolute, normalized, and extrapolated counts. Use the dropdown at the top of the Trends chart to select your preferred count type.
- Absolute counts: Estimation of raw counts of relevant news articles published each month, providing a direct measure of activity.
- Normalized counts: The number of relevant news articles adjusted relative to the total publication volume in MAPEGY's Innovation Graph, helping reduce bias and account for fluctuations in global news activity.
In green, you can see extrapolated counts: A projection of future trends in news publication activity, based on statistical regression.
Filter by date
You can utilize the trend charts to filter by date:
- Hover over any bar to see the number of articles for that time period.
- Click on a bar to set it as the start date of your filter. Click on another bar to set it as the end date, completing your selected time frame. The publications will then be filtered to match the chosen date range.
Filtering by date will load a new set of 500 results.
Summarize results with AI
You can also summarize your news results with the AI-powered summarization feature, designed to quickly highlight the most critical aspects of your search.
Just click on the magic wand at the top of the panel, select your use case, and get your summary including:
- Related Articles linked to your data table where matches exist.
- Copy Functionality for effortless integration into projects.
Currently, we offer the following use cases:
Top 5 Categories. This AI action summarizes the five most prominent innovation-related topics based on your search and news results. Summaries are tailored to your applied filters.
Genre-Based Use Cases. Selecting any of the following AI actions will automatically apply the corresponding Genre filter:
- Legal Updates. AI-generated summary of legal and regulatory developments connected to your query. The LEGAL genre filter highlights legislations, policy changes, IP activity, and compliance trends.
- Mergers & Acquisitions. Summarizes business moves including mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and joint ventures. Triggered by selecting this use case, the M&A genre filter surfaces strategic investment and consolidation news.
- Startup Activity. Highlights early-stage innovation including startup launches, funding rounds, and accelerator activity. Selecting this use case applies the STARTUPS genre filter to reveal emerging players and venture dynamics.
- Product Innovations. Covers new product releases and breakthrough technologies entering the market. This use case activates the PRODUCT genre filter, focusing on commercial innovations and notable product debuts.
- Innovation Trends/ Focuses on emerging technologies and forward-looking developments within your topic. Triggering this use case applies the SIGNAL genre filter to surface trend signals and exploratory research directions.
- R&D Grants & Funding. Summarizes financial support for innovation, such as grants, subsidies, and awards. The FUNDING genre filter is applied automatically when this use case is selected, highlighting R&D financing activity.
- Strategic Reports. Delivers insights from expert research and market analysis reports tied to your query. By choosing this use case, the REPORT genre filter retrieves competitive landscapes, strategic outlooks, and forecasts.
For SCOUT to provide an AI summary, your search must return at least 25 research publications. If fewer, the summary button will not appear
Read full articles
Clicking on an article title will redirect you to the external source, allowing you to read the full article.
Some articles display an exclamation mark (!) next to the title, indicating that the link to the article is broken. This often happens with older articles due to changes in the data source web address or the removal of the article by the original publisher. These articles are still included to support historical analysis and provide context for the results.
