New search workflow
We’ve rolled out a major update to how searching works in SCOUT: designed to make it simpler to go from an idea to actionable insights. This update rethinks how searches are created, while keeping full control in your hands.
A simpler way to start searching
Starting a search is now effortless.
- Click the “+” button in the main menu
- Type what you’re looking for
- Run the search and save it directly to your project
Automatic expert query generation
You can now simply type your topic or idea, and SCOUT will automatically generate an expert search query for you.
Whether you’re exploring a technology, application, material, trend, or organization, SCOUT translates your input into a structured query.
This reduces the time needed to get started, especially for complex or unfamiliar domains.
Review and refine
We strongly encourage you to review your generated query, especially in this first release. You can do this by clicking “Edit” on the search: add the suggested terms or your own keywords.
As with any new system, there may be edge cases where the first version isn’t perfect yet, and that’s okay. The goal is to give you a strong starting point while keeping transparency and control firmly with you.
Smart search update
You might notice one more change: What was previously called Smart Search has been removed.
If you had Smart Searches saved in your portfolio, they’ve been automatically converted into Lexical searches.
We’d love to hear your feedback. It’s extremely important to us and will directly shape the next iterations of the search workflow in SCOUT.
Whether it’s about query generation, control, transparency, your input helps us conceptualize our next development steps.
